'Developments overnight': Sky Sports have Arsenal transfer update to share live on air

Right now it seems as if things are really kicking into gear for Edu and Arsenal’s transfer team, who are aiming to streamline the club’s squad.
Although Mikel Arteta has enjoyed a very competitive starting eleven over the past two seasons, his extended squad hasn’t quite matched his lofty ambitions.

William Saliba didn’t miss a Premier League minute last term, proving that Arteta didn’t feel as if his side could cope without the Frenchman.

And although they missed a few more minutes, the same could easily be said for the likes of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal need to improve their squad depth, and in order to do so they have decided that players must leave first.

Judging by reports, Hale-Enders Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson could be on the chopping board along with Emile Smith Rowe.

Smith Rowe is close to leaving Arsenal for Fulham, and judging by a new report by Sky Sports News, Nketiah could also be nearing a permanent exit.

Arsenal are optimistic that a fee can be agreed with Marseille for Eddie Nketiah
It was recently shared that Nketiah wants to leave Arsenal for Marseille, buoyed by the prospect of a new challenge.

And to his luck, it seems as if the two clubs are now much closer to reaching an agreement.

Sky Sports shared their update on Nketiah’s departure on Wednesday morning, saying that Marseille’s new bid wasn’t quite up to scratch but things were still looking promising.

They stated: “There have been more developments overnight, this time at Arsenal. Marseille have returned with an offer of around £17m for striker Eddie Nketiah.

“The package is closer to Arsenal’s valuation of the striker and there’s cautious optimism that an agreement can be reached. Nketiah is currently with the Arsenal squad on their tour of the USA.”

Although Arsenal fans won’t necessarily be excited to see a Hale End graduate leave, they may be buoyed by the prospect of how those funds could then improve Arteta’s squad.

And if deals for Smith Rowe and Nketiah to leave north London are concluded swiftly, it’ll be intriguing to see where Arsenal strike next.
