Exclusive: Club in advanced talks to re-sign Arsenal forward

Arsenal forward Mika Biereth is close to agreeing a deal to rejoin Sturm Graz, sources have told Football Insider.

As a result of his goalscoring exploits, the Austrian club are keen to hold on to the striker and talks over a new loan deal have reached an advanced stage.

The Denmark Under-21 international spent the second half of last season on loan with Graz, scoring nine goals in 22 appearances.

Biereth, 21, has yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal and has spent the last two seasons on loan at three separate clubs.

After spells with RKC Waalwijk in the Netherlands, Motherwell in Scotland, and Sturm Graz in Austria, the striker is set for stability with the latter for the coming season.

He was named on the bench for the senior squad four times during the 2021-22 season, but was never called upon and has not been involved at The Emirates since.

The decision to loan the forward to Sturm Graz came after a successful start to the season with Motherwell in which he scored six goals in 15 appearances.

Arsenal recalled him from his spell in Scotland to help him step up to a higher level where he went on to win the league and the cup in Austria.

As part of the league and cup double-winning side last season, Sturm Graz prioritised his return with a loan deal top of their agenda.
