Arsenal fans will be delighted to see Calafiori finally on his way and over the course of the weekend, they’ll be hoping all the finer details are sorted and an announcement made.
Calafiori to Arsenal could pull them closer to Man City
There is no doubt that Arsenal only need small adjustments to get closer to City and the signing of Calafiori might just do that for them.
Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen Pep Guardiola deploy a system of playing four central defenders in a back four. He’s had great success, too.
For Arsenal, Calafiori’s signing allows Mikel Arteta to do similar.
The Italian is expected to play on the left while Ben White will remain out on the right, with Gabriel and Saliba down the middle.
This feels like a big signing for the Gunners and one that could well change things next season for them.
Calafiori, you feel, will simply be delighted to get this over the line and completed.
