There have been plenty of exciting rumours surrounding Arsenal during this transfer window, but perhaps the most intriguing has been the Gunners’ links to Xavi Simons.
The Dutch midfielder has been utterly brilliant over the past two years, and his performances at Euro 2024 have only put the player in the shop window even more.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Simons this summer, but according to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, there are only two teams now in the race for Simons.
Two teams left in Xavi Simons race
According to Romano, there are now only two teams left in the race for Xavi Simons as the player is expected to stay in Germany.
Romano says that Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are both in the mix for Simons now and a decision will be made soon.
“After checking with my sources, Xavi Simons is expected to continue in Germany for next season. We know Bayern are trying but RB Leipzig are still absolutely in the mix. It’s Bayern against Leipzig, but trust me, Leipzig are still there. This is not going to be a long saga, Simons wants to decide soon,” Romano said.

Xavi Simons should join RB Leipzig
Xavi Simons’ decision here shouldn’t be too difficult.
Of course, Bayern Munich are a bigger club than RB Leipzig, but Simons wants to develop as a player and play regularly – hence why he’s leaving PSG.
At the Allianz Arena, Simons would potentially have to compete with the likes of Jamal Musial and Michael Olise a for gametime as well as Dani Olmo and Desire Doue depending on how the German club’s transfer plans work out.
Meanwhile, he already knows how much he’d be valued at Leipzig having spent last season there on loan, and a return may be best for the Dutchman and his career path.
Sadly, it looks as though Arsenal have faded in the race to sign the ‘world class’ midfielder.
