Liverpool fans have become accustomed to title challengers across the past five years thanks to the foundations set by Jurgen Klopp. Yet, there is a sense of apprehension over whether they will be able to do so under the former Feyenoord boss. He has inherited a strong squad but they remain the only club in Europe’s top five leagues not to sign a player - which is causing a sense of doubt as their rivals strengthen.
Regardless, we could see Liverpool compete with last season’s top two if they hit the ground running and Arteta has revealed he has been impressed with Slot’s previous work at other clubs and is expecting a good game between the two sides. “I don’t know him personally, but I’ve watched his past team. First of all, I like a lot the person and the way he comes across. I heard very good things about players that are probably the best ones to ask as well and I am really impressed as well, the way he sets up his teams and clarity and the quality that the team shows, so yeah, it’s going to be a really good game.”
