JUST NOW:Arsenal get a Victor Osimhen transfer boost

Napoli superstar striker Victor Osimhen is arguably the biggest name on the transfer market, but with a release clause exceeding 100 million euros, he is also one of the most expensive.
Therefore, Arsenal and Chelsea, the two biggest clubs interested in Osimhen, have been hesitant to go for the 2022/23 Capocannoniere winner, instead waiting until closer to the transfer deadline day for Napoli to begin negotiating a fee below the clause.

Perhaps that day could come sooner, and with Chelsea slowing in their interest for the Nigerian superstar, Arsenal could see an opening to attack and sign one of the most talented players in world football today.

According to Italian transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, Victor Osimhen is taking a key source of potential transfer revenue off the table for Napoli, as the 25-year-old understandably has no interest in moving to the Saudi Pro League at this moment in time.

Without Saudi Arabian clubs involved, the chances of Napoli getting someone to activate Osimhen’s release clause goes down, and that puts the ball back in the court of clubs like Arsenal and PSG, who are both seen as the favorites to land the No. 9.

Of course, between the two of them, Arsenal would be the favorites, because they are Premier League title contenders, whereas PSG are a poorly-constructed club desperate for any sort of star power to replace Kylian Mbappe in the doldrums of a forgotten Ligue 1.

As for Arsenal, Di Marzio reports that the Gunners would potentially send a transfer offer to Napoli for Osimhen “sooner or later”, as the latest developments seem to indicate a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal remain committed to signing a star attacker this summer, and if Osimhen’s price tag can come down, the concerns about his fit or injury record will be less frightening
