Leny Yoro injury latest as Man United defender seen for the first time since Arsenal game

Manchester United will take on Real Betis in the second fixture of their USA leg of the pre-season tour on August 1.

After losing the Arsenal game, the focus will be on getting back on track so they can move with some momentum before games against Liverpool and Man City, the latter being the season’s first competitive fixture.

However, despite the run of fixtures, United fans have one eye on the injury specter looming over the club, as Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund went off in the first half against Arsenal due to issues.

Since then, the pair missed the training session in LA before the Betis game and now, the latest pictures of Leny Yoro have emerged who’s seen for the first time since that game.

Leny Yoro injury latest
Erik ten Hag didn’t have a press conference before the Betis game. Instead, Amad took media questions and while he did give crucial insights, for example, why Chido Obi-Martin might have joined Man United, he’s not one to give injury updates.

As such, fans continued to be in the dark over the status of Yoro and Hojlund, until some a video of Yoro popped up on X.

In the video, the Frenchman is wearing a huge protective boot on his left foot and is seen walking gingerly with the help of crutches as United players were coming out of UCLA after a training session.

His condition didn’t look so good in the medium-term, let alone an appearance vs Real Betis on August 1. The Manchester Evening News also reports that United fear he could be out for a long time

If he is out for a significant amount of time, it will be a massive blow to United, who would have hoped that pre-season would give the youngster a chance to get some match rhythm with his new teammates.

It might also force a scramble in the transfer plans, as Victor Lindelof might become more important in the immediate future if Yoro is unavailable for a month or two.

A transfer pivot?
So far, Ineos have shown that they are calm operators in the market but depending upon Yoro’s injury, they might be forced to pivot.

Noussair Mazraoui seemed like the next man on the agenda contingent on Aaron Wan-Bissaka going to West Ham but a new center-back might become a priority.

Matthijs de Ligt has agreed a contract with United and has been waiting on the clubs to agree on a suitable transfer fee.

That transfer hinges on United being able to sell Victor Lindelof. Now, the club might make a call to get that transaction done before addressing the right-back domino.

As it stands, Will Fish is set to benefit from this as he is predicted to start vs Betis alongside Harry Maguire in Yoro’s absence. It remains to be seen if United look at Fish as someone who can genuinely play a part this season, however.

If that is not the case, a transfer pivot might be in the offing. United will just hope that this is a one-off freak injury and not a continuation of last season’s theme.
