Liverpool could finally replace Sadio Mane if they sign 19-goal forward this summer

Liverpool could pull off one signing that would go a long way to replacing Sadio Mane’s impact at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s time at Liverpool ended in disappointment with the Reds failing to win any major trophy as they finished third in the Premier League.

During the summer of 2022, which was the last time that Liverpool were seriously competing for the league title, when they were pipped to the crown by Pep Guardiola’s relentless Manchester City, the Reds lost a key star.

One of the key players for the Reds was Sadio Mane as the Senegalese winger, alongside Mohamed Salah, were at their best but Mane decided the time was right to depart Merseyside.

Liverpool may have located Mane replacement
During his final season at Anfield, Mane netted 16 times for the Reds in the Premier League but since his departure, the club have failed to find an adequate replacement.

Luis Diaz looked to be a potential replacement after a promising start but the Colombian has been inconsistent for the Reds. Cody Gakpo was signed from PSV last January but the Dutchman has been used as a striker. A new winger is needed

HITC understands that Liverpool have been in contact with the agent of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville with the view of a potential summer move.

Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida is also understood to have held talks with the Reds but the signing of Summerville makes a lot of sense.

Last season for The Whites, Summerville scored 19 goals for the Yorkshire club and provided 9 assists for the club as they missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Summerville’s key skill makes him an asset
It’s not just the goals that the Dutchman has scored for the Yorkshire club that would make him a potential candidate for a role in the front three but his work off the ball.

When Klopp departed Liverpool, the club were looking for a like-for-like replacement for the German’s rock and roll high pressing style and they settled on the Dutchman.

Slot, during his first press conference, was asked about the potential similarities between him and Klopp and he said: “I think there are and that’s also one of the reasons why I came in. When something has been successful, a certain way of playing, you would like to extend this or to go on with this.”

After Leeds drew against Hull City in September, Daniel Farke was keen to praise Summerville for his work off the ball.

“His reaction, not just in possession, because he’s an outstanding creative player, we know this, but also how hard he worked for the team,” Farke said. “This is exactly what we need and many compliments to him.”

A hard working winger, who has added end product to his game this season, could be exactly what the Reds need going into a new era.
