Liverpool transfer news live: Arda Guler 'contact', Nat Phillips price tag, Nico Williams latest

reports that it is a 'formality' that he will sign for Juventus and a deal for him to join up with former manager Thiago Motta has almost been confirmed.

It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool moves for an alternative option to first choice signing Leny Yoro, who appears to be close to joining Real Madrid.

It would be a major risk not to given that Joel Matip has left and Ibrahima Konate has a patchy injury record. Arne Slot needs as many reliable options as he can get in every position.

Lutsharel Geertruida transfer race hots up
Liverpool and Spurs have joined PSG in the race to sign Netherlands international Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord this summer, according to Foot Mercato.

PSG has already offered a contract to the versatile 23-year-old, it is said, but the Premier League duo are also in contention. With Leny Yoro likely to end up at Real Madrid, it is said that alternatives are being assessed by the Reds, at least in this report.

Nat Phillips price set
Liverpool has put a price of around $10m (£8m/€9m) on Nat Phillips' head, according to the Daily Mail. The defender is still yet to secure a permanent move away from Anfield, with the 27-year-old sent on a succession of loans since his unlikley breakthrough in 2020/21.

Phillips has repeatedly been kept at Anfield to stave off injury scares. When he has left, it has been on temporary deals, to Bournemouth, Celtic and latterly Cardiff.

However, this last move was a success, and Liverpool is not expected to be short on suitors for Phillips. Cardiff want him back, other Championship clubs are keen, and Mainz is also showing interest. Meanwhile, newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich is a potential destination.

Guler 'contact' made
Liverpool has made contact over signing Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler, according to Spanish outlet Marca. The story is included in the print edition, and is relayed via the Paisley Gates.

Interest in Guler had earlier been reported by Estadio Deportivo. However, it is noted that Real Soceidad also admires the 19-year-old, and would be open to a loan deal.

Real Madrid, for its part, is not expected to let Guler leave permanently. If it prefers a loan for the teenager, who struggled for minutes at the Bernabeu last season, it remains to be seen where that leaves Liverpool's apparent pursuit.
