'No guarantees': £35m striker hints that he could leave after being linked with Arsenal move

A forward who has been linked with a switch to Arsenal this summer has now hinted that he could still make a shock move.

Right now, Mikel Arteta is said to prefer Nico Williams as an offensive addition for Arsenal, a player who shone at the Euros.

However, with Barcelona in hot pursuit and Williams also very content to stay at Athletic Club, the move is something of a punt.

That’s not to say that Arsenal aren’t capable of pulling off the signing, but there will definitely be contingency plans in place.

Arteta has reportedly requested a versatile attacking profile to add to his squad, someone who can perhaps play across all positions in the front three.

And if Arsenal are unsuccessful in attempts to sign Williams, they will perhaps turn to Borussia Dortmund striker Karim Adeyemi.

Dortmund are reluctant to lose the striker, but Arsenal are reportedly interested in Adeyemi, who impressed in the Champions League last season.

Karim Adeyemi hints at Dortmund exit after being linked with Arsenal
Dortmund signed Adeyemi from RB Salzburg two seasons ago, and the 22-year-old has continued to prove his rich potential ever since.

And as per Arteta’s specification, Adeyemi is equally adept at playing on the wing as he is in central positions.

Karim Adeyemi attends the first training session of Borussia Dortmund after the summer break on July 11, 2024 in Dortmund, Germany.
That being said, Fabrizio Romano has just shared some of Adeyemi’s comments on his future over on X.

And although the £35m-rated striker was very respectful to his current club Dortmund, where he’s very happy, he admitted that there’s ‘no guarantees in life’.

Adeyemi said: “I can’t say anything about that [leaving Dortmund], I’m wearing a Dortmund kit and I’m very happy to be wearing a Dortmund kit.”

But then he later went on to say: “There are no guarantees in life.”

Perhaps a little bit of encouragement for interested clubs, who may now be willing to test Dortmund’s resolve.

New Dortmund boss Nuri Sahin doesn’t want to lose Adeyemi to Arsenal, feeling as if he can be the only to realise the German striker’s potential.

But if Arsenal do conclude their interest in Williams in the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see what move Edu takes next.
