People very close to Arsenal say Mikel Arteta is going to start £40m in his best XI this season - journalist

Arsenal came so close to winning the Premier League title last season, and this time around, they will be looking to go one step further.

Indeed, Arsenal missed out on the title by the tightest of margins last season, and they need to find that extra one or two per cent to get them over the line.

That means that some small tweaks are needed, and while many may point towards new signings as the way to improve the side, it sounds as though Arsenal may have one in-house solution in mind.

Indeed, according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, people close to Arsenal are claiming that Jurrien Timber is going to start at left-back next season.

Jurrien Timber set to start at left-back for Arsenal
Kay shared what he’s been hearing about the £40m man.

“I’m blessed to know people who are very close to Arsenal, and Timber looks like he is going to start at left-back. The word is that Calafiori is being brought in either as competition for Gabriel or as a replacement for him,” Kay said.

What Gary Lineker said about Jurrien Timber
Timber is in line to start for Arsenal this season, and he would likely have played a similar role last year if it wasn’t for injury.

Indeed, Timber looked like one of Arsenal’s best players during pre-season and the Community Shield.

Timber looked like a star in the making, and Gary Lineker reckons Arsenal’s season could’ve been different if the defender hadn’t been injured.

“He did his cruciate didn’t he, Timber? Was it the first or second game of the season?” Lineker said.

“Yeah it was the first game of the season wasn’t it? He’s made the Dutch squad now Timber. You forget about that, I wonder if things would’ve been different for Arsenal this season, but they had a wonderful season anyway.”

Fingers crossed Timber can stay injury-free this term, because he looks like a seriously talented player.
