Rangers transfer target 'ready' for the big time with Jurgen Klopp already a fan

Rangers have been linked with several players this summer although things have, frustratingly for fans, quietened down recently.

One exciting name that did emerge over the weekend was Bobby Clark, the Liverpool youngster who has already been making waves in the first team at Anfield.

The central midfielder is a chip off the old block with his dad, Lee, a former Premier League stalwart for both Newcastle United and Fulham and it is easy to see why Philippe Clement and Rangers might be interested.

Bobby Clark’s biggest fan reveals dream amid Rangers link
Bobby’s old man dreams of his son starring at St James’ Park and, speaking to Sam Allardyce, has mixed emotions whenever the club he loves faces the club his son plays for:

“I was in Dubai over Christmas and New Year and they played, Newcastle down at Anfield, and Bobby was involved in the squad,

“It was horrible! I watched the game, it was just awful. Liverpool ended up winning, but it was just like, ‘Get this game over’, I was not enjoying it at all. I was all over the shop, your emotions.

“So, if he’s ever in the position where he’s starting against Newcastle, I might just jump on a plane and disappear to the other side of the world – I’m not sure I could handle that one!”

Liverpool were still going for the title when Clark was thrown in at the deepend with Jurgen Klopp having confidence in the teenage midfielder after picking him in a turbulent game against Luton Town:

“The boys are ready and I wouldn’t do that if they weren’t ready. I wouldn’t bring Bobby [Clark] on if he wasn’t.

“It looked a bit like Luton were done so we trust them [young players] a lot just with what they do.”

Clark is the right profile if Rangers dip into rental market
Liverpool signed Clark two years ago for £1.5m from Newcastle and clearly see something in a player who is a regular in England’s youth ranks.

Klopp might be moving on, but there will be a responsibility on Arne Slot to continue bleeding the academy players at the club.

Clark won’t be playing week in and week out in the short term which is why he will be heading out on loan this season to get regular game time at senior level.

The competition, as expected, is fierce for Clark’s signature and Rangers will do well to persuade him to head up the M6 and play in the SPFL.

This though, is the type of loan signing that Rangers should be looking for.

Players on the fringes of first team football at the Premier League’s best clubs and who need to go out and gain more experience.

For some, like Amad Diallo, it is the making of them.
