Mikel Arteta has led his team out to the United States for their pre-season tour. They will face Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool in the coming days.
Arsenal are missing quite a few of their players due to their involvement in Euro 2024 and the Copa America, but Arteta still has a strong group of players at his disposal.
One of them looks in incredible shape ahead of the start of pre-season.
Edu and Mikel Arteta hold talks with Gabriel Jesus after striker returns ‘fitter than ever’
Gabriel Jesus’ Arsenal future has been up in the air for a few months now.
The Brazilian had a very difficult 2023/24 season. He had multiple injury issues and that pushed him below Kai Havertz in the pecking order.
Jesus started just 21 games in all competitions for Arsenal, and that resulted in a lot of speculation about his future at the club.
Reports even claimed that Arsenal are prepared to sell Jesus amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
However, that stance seems to have changed now.
Football Transfers have revealed that Arsenal are ‘determined’ to keep Jesus beyond the end of this summer’s transfer window.
That’s because the Brazil international is said to have returned to pre-season ‘fitter than ever’, and he has held face-to-face talks with Arteta and Edu.
The report reveals that ‘concerns over the forward’s fitness were addressed head-on in these talks, resulting in a renewed focus and commitment’ from Jesus.
Jesus, branded as a ‘really dangerous’ player by Harry Kane in an interview on TNT Sports, played in Arsenal’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Leyton Orient and scored a goal.
Fans will be hoping he can return to his best in the upcoming campaign.
What Jesus did before Arsenal’s pre-season camp began
Jesus was absolutely unbelievable at Arsenal in his first few months at the club.
The Brazilian instantly made the Gunners title contenders in the 2022/23 season, but unfortunately for him, he has had multiple injury issues since.
However, the Arsenal number nine has been so keen to get back to his best that he got back on the pitch before the Gunners’ pre-season camp even began.
Jesus was spotted training with Neymar, and those sessions seem to have paid off now as he really does look in incredible shape.
Arsenal take on Bournemouth in the early hours of Thursday, and Jesus is expected to start that game. It will be interesting to see how he will fare.
