Report: Arsenal have now reached agreement with 'one of the best' players in the world

Arsenal are likely to be busy on the transfer front this summer as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to apply the finishing touches to their squad.
The Gunners have improved massively under Arteta’s management following a number of years in the wilderness.

A team that was often finishing outside the top four has now been in the Premier League title picture for two years running.

Obviously there’s still some work to do to get Arsenal to the next level, and the Gunners will no doubt be looking to strengthen their ranks.

In recent days, speculation involving Arsenal and a player deemed “one of the best in the world” has intensified.

And now, a report has emerged claiming the Gunners have agreed personal terms with said player.

Arsenal reach Riccardo Calafiori agreement
The player in question is Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, one of the few players who actually did well for Italy at Euro 2024.

According to Sports Zone, Calafiori and Arsenal have reached an agreement, though the player also has one with Juventus.

However, Bologna are reportedly more interested in selling Calafiori to a club outside Italy, with Chelsea also said to be in the race alongside Arsenal and Juve.

Who is Arsenal target Riccardo Calafiori?
Riccardo Calafiori is a 22-year-old defender who plies his trade for Serie A club Bologna and represents Italy at international level.

After coming through the ranks at Roma – and recovering from a horror tackle in a UEFA Youth League game – he moved to Swiss side Basel in 2022.

Just a year later, Calafiori returned to Serie A, joining Bologna, and he has gone from strength to strength, hitting the heights many backed him to reach when he was at Roma.

“Calafiori is one of the best in the world in this moment in terms of talents,” Fabrizio Romano recently said about his compatriot.

Now, the likes of Arsenal are reportedly looking to give him that big career move, and he shouldn’t break the bank either.

According to Football Italia, Bologna value him at €40-50million (£34-43million).
