Report: Arsenal now looking at signing another £13m Serie A player after bidding for Riccardo Calafiori

Arsenal are pressing on with their summer transfer business despite the Euros going on in the background.

Mikel Arteta is looking to make it third time lucky when it comes to usurping Manchester City after falling just short over the last two seasons.
Of course, in order to bridge the gap further, new signings are needed and Arsenal are making progress.

The Gunners are being strongly linked with a move for Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori at the moment.

The Bologna star was one of the standout performers in Serie A last season and after showcasing his talents at the Euros, Calafiori has now emerged as a key target for Arsenal.

However, while Calafiori is a top target, the Gunners are also looking at other players in Serie A.

And according to reports, Arsenal are keeping tabs on another defender from the Italian league.

Arsenal keen on Lecce star Patrick Dorgu
According to Italian outlet PianetaLecce, Arsenal are one of the English teams considering making a move for 19-year-old defender, Patrick Dorgu.

Dorgu, who is well on his way to becoming a full Danish international, starred for Lecce last season down the left-hand side.

The teenager can operate as a left-back or wing-back and has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Indeed, according to this latest report, Spurs and Liverpool are also still interested in Dorgu, should he become available.

For Arsenal, of course, Dorgu’s signing may well depend on them getting the deal for Calafiori over the line or not.

If they do indeed land Calafiori, signing Dorgu would be more as one for the future.

Dorgu compared to Destiny Udogie
Dorgu is very much seen as one of the top young defenders in Italy at the moment and he’s already played more than 40 times for Lecce.

Interestingly, Goal has previously suggested people in Italy have compared Dorgu to current Spurs defender, Destiny Udogie.

As we know, Udogie enjoyed a fine season with Tottenham in his first year in the Premier League and if Dorgu can get to that level, he’ll have a fine career.

Dorgu, then, is one to watch for Arsenal fans.
