The Gunners are looking to strengthen their side ahead of the start of the new Premier League season, and they have been linked with a number of names.
Arsenal could do with a new forward too in this window, and a report has now revealed what they are planning to do in the coming weeks.
Arsenal have a plan to sign Viktor Gyokeres
Viktor Gyokeres was one of the best strikers in Europe in the 2023/24 season.
The Sweden international scored 43 goals and provided 13 assists in 50 appearances for Sporting Lisbon in his debut campaign at the club. He was incredible for them.
TBR Football exclusively revealed earlier in July that Arsenal and Chelsea could make a move to sign Gyokeres before the window shuts in August.
Now, Mark Brus has shared an update on The Daily Briefing.
It has been claimed that ‘Arsenal are planning to enter into negotiations’ with Sporting Lisbon to strike a deal for Gyokeres in the coming weeks.
Talks between the two clubs are anticipated ‘once Eddie Nketiah finalises his move to Marseille’.
Sporting remain adamant that they want Gyokeres’ release clause of £86 million to be triggered to allow him to leave, but Arsenal have another plan.
The report claims that ‘Arsenal hope to test the Portuguese giants’ resolve with an initial offer in the region of £55-60 million’ if and when Nketiah leaves the club.
Would Gyokeres be a success at Arsenal?
Gyokeres is an incredible striker, and his numbers prove that.
The Swede has been brilliant ever since he joined Sporting Lisbon, and it is no surprise at all that Arsenal are looking at signing him now
The Gunners don’t have a prolific striker in their squad. Many feel that is the one thing that’s stopping them from winning the Premier League title.
Gyokeres, branded as a player with ‘unbelievable’ ability by Mark Robins (Coventry Telegraph), is a complete striker. His finishing is incredible, he is excellent in the box and he’s not too bad with his back to goal either.
With the amount of chances Arsenal create thanks to the likes of Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, we think Gyokeres will thrive at the Emirates.
Arsenal are expected to watch Gyokeres in action on Saturday when Sporting will take on Athletic Bilbao. A good performance there could push the Gunners to accelerate their move to sign him.
