Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants to sign Ramsdale as his first-choice goalkeeper, but the club can’t meet Arsenal’s reported asking price of around £50m.
Instead, Forest plan to gamble and wait until later in the summer, when they hope Ramsdale might be available for a loan move.
Nixon adds that plenty of Premier League clubs are looking at Ramsdale, but none have made a suitable bid for the goalkeeper so far.
Most recently, it was claimed that Southampton were prepared to step up interest in Ramsdale after Euro 2024. Again, the Saints were hoping for a loan move.
Despite Nixon’s claim that Arsenal want £50m, James McNicholas of The Athletic previously reported that the Gunners expect to recoup a fee in the region of £30m.
If Ramsdale does leave, McNicholas added that Joan Garcia of Espanyol has been lined up as a replacement.
Ramsdale made 11 appearances in 2023/24, losing his starting spot to David Raya.
The England goalkeeper has publicly suggested he doesn’t want another year of not playing regular matches, but Arsenal’s demands may mean a loan is the only way out for him.
