Report: Sevilla have tried to sign another 'unbelievable' Arsenal player but Edu's rejected the offer immediately

Sevilla have tried to sign another Arsenal player along with Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer.

The Gunners are expected to sell a number of players in this window. As many as 10 names have been put on the chopping block by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
Lokonga is one of them, and the Belgian midfielder, after three years on Arsenal’s books, is expected to leave the club very, very soon.

Sevilla are on the verge of signing Lokonga. During negotiations of that deal with Edu and his team, the Spanish side apparently tried to secure the services of another Arsenal player.

However, their attempts have failed.

Arsenal’s plan for Jakub Kiwior after Sevilla’s bid gets rejected
Sevilla had a shocking 2023/24 season in La Liga.

Los Nervionenses only managed to win 10 games all campaign and finished 14th – their lowest position in the Spanish top-flight since the 1999/2000 campaign.

Sevilla will want to get back to being one of the top five clubs in Spain, and they are keen to strengthen their squad to achieve their objectives.

Lokonga has been identified as a key target, and it looks like it’s only a matter of time before his move is completed.

During the discussions for the Belgian, Vamos Mi Sevilla FC have revealed that the Spanish side asked the Gunners about Jakub Kiwior as well.

The report claims that Sevilla made a transfer offer, seemingly to sign him on loan, but Arsenal rejected that immediately ‘since they intend to get a significant amount’ by selling him.

It has further been claimed that Kiwior is not short of suitors.

The real reason why Arsenal want to sell Kiwior
Arsenal signed Kiwior from Spezia in January 2023.

The Pole was brought in to strengthen Arteta’s defence – not just at centre-back but also at left-back. The latter is where he mostly played in the 2023/24 season and earned a lot of praise.

Ally McCoist even branded him as ‘unbelievable’ following his performance against Porto in the Champions League (during commentary on TNT Sports).

Kiwior showed his quality on plenty of occasions last season, but Arsenal want to sell him this summer for one very important reason – to make room for Riccardo Calafiori.

The report claims that the Italian will be joining Arsenal soon, and his arrival is the reason why they want to move Kiwior on.

That makes sense because Calafiori and Kiwior are very similar players, and there’s just no need for both of them in the squad.
