‘Still talking’: Arsenal are discussing bidding for £40m player, but there’s a ‘massive problem’ – journalist

Arsenal are discussing bidding for £40m player but there’s a ‘massive problem’
Arsenal need some new attacking talent through the door this summer.
The Gunners have an amazing array of attacking players, but their depth isn’t quite at the required level, especially down that right side.

Indeed, Bukayo Saka basically has to play every single game for Mikel Arteta’s side these days, and that, quite simply, isn’t sustainable.

Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has been discussing Arsenal’s search for a new winger, and he says that Pedro Neto is still someone Arsenal are considering bidding for.

However, there is a big problem on this front as Arsenal are worried about Neto’s injury problems.

Arsenal considering Pedro Neto bid
Kay shared what he knows about Neto and Arsenal.

“There’s always been a lot of noise about Pedro Neto and Arsenal. Arteta is a massive fan of him and he loves Pedro Neto. But there’s a massive problem with his injuries,” Kay said.

“I know that Arsenal were looking at his injury data with a fine tooth comb to figure out if they want to make a bid or not.

“I’m 85% sure this guy will move on. You’re talking £40m now, it was £80m last year, his price has halved.

“For me this is the guy, look at the price, what we know about him, he’s Premier League proven, he’s the guy.

“This is one I wouldn’t put as totally dead. I know they’re still talking at Arsenal and they’re looking at his injury record. I like Neto, and I think there’s still a possibility of this to come. It’s quiet, sometimes you get a feeling in the transfer game, and it doesn’t feel like it’s a bad quiet.”

Neto injuries are a gamble
Pedro Neto is a fantastic player, but he’s struggled to stay fit in recent times.

Signing Neto given his fitness issues would be a gamble, but it may be a gamble worth taking.

Indeed, if Neto is only coming in to play as a rotation option with Bukayo Saka, his workload won’t be as high, and, therefore, you’d expect him to pick up fewer injuries.

Maybe this is one that Arsenal should press forward with, because, as Kay says, there aren’t many players on the market who possess the same skills as Neto.
