'This is one': Fabrizio Romano shares the signing Arsenal definitely want to make this summer

Fabrizio Romano has shared what signing The Gunners are desperate to make this summer transfer window.

Arsenal will be keeping close tabs on a number of players at the European Championships in Germany this summer as they look to assemble a squad capable of winning the Premier League title.

They aren’t too far from bridging the gap on Manchester City, perhaps only two or three top-level additions.

That said, Romano has outlined what areas Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen in.

Left-footed defender priority
Speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano made it clear that Arsenal are looking to sign a left-footed defender, which indicates Riccardo Calafiori is certainly a player they’re keen on.

“I expect many movements. It depends on what kind of opportunities there will be, but a left-footed defender is something that Arsenal want to bring in and will probably bring in this summer,” the transfer specialist said.

“This is one of the priorities. Something could happen in the midfield and offensive positions and then a new backup goalkeeper incase Ramsdale leaves the club.

“Arsenal have triggered the clause of Raya on a permanent transfer for £27m. The planning is already clear, Arsenal are relaxed.”

Riccardo Calafiori fits the profile
Italy and Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori fits the description Arsenal are after so it’d hardly be surprising if they land his signature this summer.

Though, they face stiff competition from a number of clubs around the continent, with Juventus, Chelsea and West Ham United all some of the interested parties.

Bologna are demanding in excess of £40m for the 22-year-old, which doesn’t seem to have put off any potential suitors.

Arsenal won’t want to get caught up in a transfer saga.
