'Very confident': Journalist says he's convinced Arsenal are about to sign two new players this summer

Arsenal are yet to add a new body to their squad this summer.

David Raya has returned to the club on a permanent deal after his loan spell last season, but, other than that, it’s been all quiet on the incomings front.

However, that could all change very soon.
Indeed, Arsenal are being linked with a number of new signings as we head into the business-end of the transfer window, and speaking on Inside Arsenal, James Benge has backed the Gunners to make two signings in quick succession in the same position.

Daniel Bentley and Tommy Setford likely to sign for Arsenal
Benge spoke about Arsenal’s transfer plans, and he noted that he expects both Daniel Bentley and Tommy Setford to sign for Arsenal as backup goalkeepers.

“Can they not just do a whip-round in the dressing room on one afternoon? Say that if we can’t get this done it’s Karl Hein on his own as the goalkeeper. But yes, I’m with you, I think that Bentley will get done, and I’m very confident on Setford,” Benge said.

Uninspiring business from Arsenal
Bentley and Setford could well be Arsenal’s first two new signings of the summer, and it’s fair to say that this would be an uninspiring bit of business from the Gunners.

It’s hard to ever get excited about signing a back-up goalkeeper, never mind signing two at the same time.

Of course, these signings are necessary, Aaron Ramsdale looks set to leave the club this summer, while Karl Hein looks set for a loan move away from the Emirates.

Bentley and Setford could well be Arsenal’s first two new signings of the summer, but you’d hope that there will be bigger names to come later down the line.

Luckily, with Riccardo Calafiori strongly linked, that blockbuster addition may not be too far away.

Fingers crossed Arsenal’s summer transfer window kicks into gear sooner rather than later.
