'Very optimistic': Spanish side are convinced they're going to sign 'extremely talented' Arsenal player

Arsenal’s summer transfer window is yet to really get up and running but the Gunners have a number of players they’d be willing to wave goodbye to.

Now into July, Arsenal are yet to see any new players come through the doors at the Emirates yet with only a handful of players leaving following the end of their respective deals.

A quiet start to the window would be an understatement for Mikel Arteta‘s side given they have some ground to make up on their title rivals, Manchester City.

But it now seems as if there is confidence growing over the future of one specific player being away from north London.

A Spanish side are believed to be seriously keen on bringing one of Arsenal’s midfielders in over the coming weeks.

Spanish side optimistic they’ll land Arsenal midfielder
This summer will see Arsenal look to pull themselves closer to City once again having only finished two points off the table toppers last season.

It is a matter of fine margins separating these two sides now at the top end of the Premier League with new additions potentially being able to make the difference.

This summer’s international tournaments may well have put Arsenal’s transfer dealings on hold with some of the top players from Europe and South America still in action for their countries.

But there is one player who looks destined to leave the Gunners at some point this summer.

According to Spanish journalist Mario Mijenz Garcia, Sevilla are now ‘very optimistic’ of landing Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer.

Although the journalist has claimed there is still no agreement between the two clubs, Sevilla are expecting Lokonga to be their player by the end of the summer.

Arsenal yet to see Albert Sambi Lokonga live up to his potential
Having signed for the north London side back in 2021, Lokonga has gone on to make a mere 39 appearances for the Gunners.

Former Arsenal player Michael Thomas told Caught Offside Lokonga was a player who had a lot of qualities which would put him in good stead to be a solid Arsenal player.

“He is a young player who is going to make mistakes but boy will he learn and correct them. He looks extremely talented and grounded, which bodes well,” he said a couple of years ago.

However, this has not turned out to be the case at all with the midfielder having spent two spells away on loan in recent years.

It is apparent this is a player who is not in the plans of Arteta, so any money they can recoup for him this summer could be used to reinvest in the squad.
