'World-class' player has now decided he wants to join Arsenal to play under Mikel Arteta - Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal’s summer window could soon get up and running with the north London side making a major leap towards their first signing.
Mikel Arteta has had to wait for Arsenal to kickstart their summer window with even player departures not exactly getting going so far.

However, Edu Gaspar has now made a positive step when it comes to the first arrival at the Emirates this summer.

What Arteta has done in north London over recent years will surely act as a huge attraction for any player over the coming months.

Arsenal have not only became a Champions League regular, but they now find themselves battling at the top of the table for the Premier League title.

And it seems that is appealing to one of their summer targets who is now determined to play under Arteta for the upcoming season.

‘World-class’ player is wanting to join Arsenal this summer
Arsenal ended the 2023/24 campaign just two points off the top of the table as their progression under Arteta continues to develop year-on-year.

The gap to Manchester City has decreased over the last two seasons and that could suggest fine tuning this Arsenal side could be enough to see them claim the crown this upcoming campaign.

Adding top quality players will be exactly what Arteta will be hoping for this summer and the addition of a player who has been described as ‘world-class‘ will certainly appeal to the Spaniard.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Riccardo Calafiori has now decided he wants to join Arsenal this summer.

The two parties agreed on personal terms yesterday with Calafiori accepting the five-year proposal with a wage in the region of €4m (£3.4m) per year.

However, the Italian journalist has admitted that discussions between the two clubs are still ongoing over the potential fee involved to secure his signature.

Arsenal set to beat Chelsea in race for Riccardo Calafiori
The Italy international looks set to make the move to north London with talks now detailing the final stages of the deal.

And this will be a real blow to the likes of Chelsea who were believed to be interested in Calafiori during this summer’s market.

It would appear the Blues have given up hope of signing the 22-year-old with Romano sharing their signing of left-back Renato Veiga.

Although Calafiori is typically a centre-back, the Italian has shown his ability to play at left-back which may well be where he features under Arteta.
