The Gunners are looking to bolster their midfield options, and one player who they’re said to be keen on is Joshua Kimmich.
The German midfielder has been one of Bayern Munich’s most important players for a long time now, but with the arrival of Joao Palhinha at the Allianz Arena, his position is under scrutiny.
Speaking on the FC Bayern Insider Podcast, Christian Falk has shared some insight into Kimmich’s situation, and he’s led to believe that Kimmich has told his Germany teammates that he could leave Bayern Munich.
Joshua Kimmich could leave Bayern Munich
Falk shared what he’s heard about the ‘world class’ midfielder.
“We heard from the team that Kimmich must have said that he can really imagine leaving Bayern now,” Falk said.
“He didn’t always really admit it in the mixed zone, but it came out in the documentary. He’s a bit disappointed with the way he’s been treated at the club.
“At the moment, he can’t find a club that will pay his salary, but he’s sitting on one cheek for this one year.
“And he will also play and can then negotiate to leave on a free transfer. And then his salary, reportedly estimated at €20m, can be realised by others because if he costs nothing, they save the transfer fee.”
Arsenal should go for Kimmich
If Kimmich is available on a free transfer then Arsenal should be all over this one.
Of course, that huge salary is a serious stumbling block, but when you’re dealing with a player of this quality, he could be worth it.
Capable of playing at both right-back and in the midfield, Kimmich’s versatility will surely appeal to Mikel Arteta.
With Arsenal said to be keen on a ‘mystery’ German player, don’t be shocked if a move for Kimmich is in the pipeline.
