It has been a quiet transfer window for Liverpool and Arsenal so far and the Premier League duo have just three weeks remaining to wrap up any transfer business.
As for Arsenal, they have made David Raya’s stay permanent and added Riccardo Calafiori to their defence in a £42million deal.
Both clubs are still in the market for a new centre-forward, but it seems that a lack of strikers on the market has made a deal difficult.
HITC understands that the agent of the 21-year-old forward held talks with Liverpool and Arsenal over a potential move.
However, there was never any bids submitted for Max Beier and Borussia Dortmund have now struck a deal to sign him.
According to Sky Germany, a total agreement has been reached between Hoffenheim and Dortmund for Beier for a fee just over €30million (£26million).
The German striker is now set to undergo a medical before completing his move.
One that got away?
Liverpool and Arsenal may look back in regret that they did not push harder for Beier.
At 21, he is one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe with 16 goals in the Bundesliga last season.
Hoffenheim coach Pellegrino Matarazzo previously called Beier an “animal on the pitch”, and his extraordinary pace would have suited both clubs.
A £26million deal may be looked back on as a bargain.
