28-year-old Euro 2024 winner returns to training as Arsenal transfer still yet to be finalised

It’s set to be a defining few weeks for Real Sociedad in the transfer market. Two of their key players are reportedly set to leave, although their impending departures are still yet to be finalised.

Martin Zubimendi is being courted by Liverpool, who want a response to their contract proposal as soon as possible. La Real are tempting him to stay, and for now, they believe that he will not leave for at least another week or so.

Mikel Merino’s situation is slightly more clear, with it being expected that he will leave for Arsenal very soon. A deal is still ongoing, and in the meantime, he has returned to training with La Real (via MD), having missed their final pre-season friendly against Union Berlin on Friday.

Real Sociedad will be desperate to ensure that at least one of Merino or Zubimendi stays this summer. The former is closer to departing, although nothing is confirmed for now.
