Arsenal boss drops Eddie Nketiah transfer hint amid Nottingham Forest talks

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has addressed speculation about Eddie Nketiah’s future amid interest from Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are keen to strengthen their resources up front before the August 30 transfer deadline. A bid for Gunners striker Nketiah has already been rejected, but talks have continued to take place.

However, Arteta hinted a deal is not yet close in his pre-match press conference this morning (Friday). He said the player was expected to train with his Arsenal team-mates ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa (5.30pm kick-off).

“I expect Eddie to train with us today. To be prepared for tomorrow. Whatever happens will happen if it’s good for everybody,” Arteta said, via FootballLondon.

Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo was equally coy about the possibility of Nketiah making the move to the City Ground when he spoke to the media on Thursday. The Portuguese was not prepared to get drawn into questions about the 25-year-old specifically, but said the Reds must be ready for anything in the final days of the window.

“You know how this transfer window works, until the last day anything can happen,” Nuno said when asked about Nketiah. “I always insist and say that most important is to keep the players we have so we don’t get any kind of surprise.
