Arsenal can sign one of six stars for Mikel Arteta transfer wish after Fabio Vieira decision

Departures now appear the priority for the Gunners with Eddie Nketiah edging closer to joining Nottingham Forest. Aaron Ramsdale and Reiss Nelson have also been linked to exits, though it is Fabio Vieira that will be the next player to depart.

According to the Athletic, Porto have agreed to re-sign him on loan ahead of Merino's imminent arrival with Arteta also keen to utilise Ethan Nwaneri. In the final days of the window, Arsenal are keen to add a versatile forward to their ranks with another goalkeeper expected to join if Ramsdale departs.

With Vieira sometimes covering for Bukayo Saka, it is clear Arsenal need another option out wide and football.london has taken a look at six potential signings.

Johan Bakayoko
The PSV Eindhoven star recently enjoyed yet another excellent season in the Netherlands with 28 goal contributions to his name. Unsurprisingly, interest from the Premier League has already arrived with Chelsea and Liverpool showing appearing keen.

Though he is predominantly a right winger, the Belgium international is capable of playing on the opposite flank. His preference to play on Saka's side though, is a definite plus with cover needed in that position.

The former Everton and Leicester City man stole the show in last season's Europa League final and he now looks set to leave Italy. His preference certainly seems to be joining the French champions, but a move to the Gunners cannot be entirely ruled out.

Simon Adingra
Brighton finally look to be spending all the money they have received from big clubs for players over the last few years but that could still result in exits being needed with Simon Adingra possibly as one.

Arsenal have been tentatively linked to the 22-year-old and he would certainly be an astute addition, especially given the example they have from signing Leandro Trossard from Brighton.

Yankuba Minteh, Georginio Rutter and Mats Wieffer have all arrived for big money with Ferdi Kadioglu also on the verge of joining. With several additions made in attack, given how the Seagulls are run, a departure could be considered to balance the books.

Raphinha
Arsenal were linked to Raphinha even before his transfer to Barcelona from Leeds United. And those have continued throughout his first two years at the Spanish club with their financial problems ever-present.

However, the Catalan giants have continued to try and sign marquee attackers with it therefore possible a departure for Raphinha late into the window, to make way for a new signing, could be completed.

Federico Chiesa
If anyone can get Federico Chiesa back to the top of his game, it could be Mikel Arteta. The Italy international is not part of Juventus' plans under Thiago Motta and thus he is up for sale with interest from the Premier League present.

Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be the main clubs but the Gunners cannot be ruled out especially given how Arteta will need squad depth throughout the upcoming campaign. With the stance of Juventus clear and his contract up next summer, Arsenal could look to sign him on the cheap.

Marcus Edwards
Former Tottenham man Marcus Edwards returning to the Premier League with Arsenal could be quite something. Despite it being unlikely, the Gunners are said to have shown an interest in the Sporting CP star and he would definitely cover the attacking versatility Arteta is seeking.

With so many homegrown players appearing set to depart, he would also drastically help in that aspect when it came to naming squads for upcoming Champions League fixtures.
