Arsenal, Chelsea Target’s Transfer Situation ‘Blocked’ Amid PSG’s Cloudy Interest

The future of Victor Osimhen will be settled in the next few days, but what club the player will play for this season remains unclear. As a result, Napoli’s director, Giovanni Manna, spoke about the situation and even said a stay is possible if no deal occurs.

Osimhen has drawn interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea this summer transfer window. Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sport Germany recently reported that Chelsea are still pursuing the 25-year-old striker, while Arsenal made a casual inquiry a few weeks ago.

During this summer transfer window, expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Nigerian had approved PSG’s project and is eager for the transfer to proceed. However, multiple reports suggest that the French giants aren’t pursuing a No. 9. The latest information came from Manna, who noted that the situation is at a standstill.

“It’s an objective fact, what the coach said, the situation is blocked,” Manna told Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia). “Victor is an important player, with an important value and conditions. His desire is clear. We tried to maintain the integrity of the squad at this moment. We are not the only club in this situation and we’ll see what happens over the next 10 days.

“At this time, it is not right to say what sensations there are. We are working with his entourage to find the best solution. As we said, he is an important player, so it’s not that we can just find him anywhere. He is under contract for another two seasons, so clearly if we don’t find a solution by August 30, we’ll have to talk to the player.”

Since transferring from Ligue 1’s LOSC Lille to Napoli, the Nigerian international has netted 76 goals in 133 appearances, including 65 goals in Serie A. Osimhen was also pivotal in securing Napoli’s league title in the 2022-23 season.
