Arsenal could now sign 'one of the best attacking players' in world football for just £30m

Arsenal are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks as Edu and Mikel Arteta look to strengthen their ranks.

The Gunners have made one senior signing to date, bringing Riccardo Calafiori to the Emirates Stadium from Bologna.

With three weeks left until the transfer window shuts, Arsenal will likely be eager to bring in some more reinforcements.

A new striker could well be on the cards at Arsenal, as their lack of an out-and-out No. 9 arguably cost them last season.

Now, a striker who has been deemed “one of the best attacking players” around could be available for as little as £30million.

Arsenal target Ivan Toney available for just £30million
The player in question is Brentford and England star Ivan Toney, who is said to be a long-term target for the Gunners.

Based on recent speculation, Toney’s price tag has plummeted in recent weeks.

One recent report claimed that the Bees may look to slash their asking price to less than £50million due to a lack of interest in Toney, down from £80million-plus.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino recently suggested that the England international could be available for as little as £40million plus add-ons.

Now, according to The Times, Toney is available for £30million, as he is in the final year of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Arsenal and rival suitors set to benefit as Toney bidding war fails to materialise
It’s interesting that there has been so little concrete speculation on Toney this summer after months of links with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, it looks like it’s having the desired effect as far as the Gunners – and other suitors – are concerned.

The bidding war Brentford seemingly wanted hasn’t materialised. Now, they find themselves with a top asset whose value is dropping due to his contract situation.

If no club moves for Toney this summer, he’ll be available for a bargain price in January, and for nothing at all next summer.

Last year, Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports that Toney is “one of the best attacking players in the league”, while Thomas Frank deemed him “the best penalty taker in the world”.

For Arsenal to sign such a player for £30million would be an absolute bargain.
