Arsenal have agreed contract with 23yo Gold Medalist, could replace £120k per week star - Romano

Arsenal could sign a new deputy goalkeeper before the transfer window closes on August 30.
Aaron Ramsdale’s future has been regularly speculated this summer. There is a possibility that he could depart before the transfer deadline this month.

Ajax failed with a loan approach for him last week. Wolverhampton Wanderers recently made a similar offer with an option to buy at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Bournemouth and Southampton are also admirers of the £120,000 per week star. The Gunners seem prepared to loan him out for a £5 million+ fee with the majority of his wages covered.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Espanyol star Joan Garcia is the priority target for Mikel Arteta’s side if Ramsdale heads for the exit door during the current transfer window.

Arsenal already have a verbal agreement in place over personal terms with the 23-year-old whose buy-out clause increased to £25m in the middle of August.

Garcia could join Arsenal if Ramsdale leaves
Garcia started as a regular on the bench for Espanyol, but he got the chance to impress during the second half of last season.

The Spaniard kept eight clean sheets from 14 league games for the Periquitos as they sealed promotion to La Liga.

His performances earned him a spot in the Spanish Olympic squad which won Gold in Paris by beating France in the final.

Garcia has four more years left on his contract and Espanyol are unlikely to let him go on the cheap before the deadline.

They are in a strong position to negotiate with his release clause and Arsenal may have to pay closer to the valuation.

Espanyol suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Valladolid in the La Liga opener recently, but Garcia had a good outing in goal.

Valladolid’s winner came from a heavy deflection. Garcia had a passing accuracy of 79 percent with six successful long balls.

His quality distribution along with strong reflexes would make him a good signing for Arsenal.
