Arsenal have now asked about signing Chelsea's top transfer target this summer - journalist

Chelsea have thrown themselves deep into another merry-go round of transfers in the final few weeks of this summer window.

They are still looking for a way to get Conor Gallagher to leave the club, with this leading to their interest in signing Joao Felix in what would be an extraordinary return.

This comes after the expected signing of Samu Omorodion collapsed at the final moments, with some saying that was a result of an issue during his medical.

However, it has also been claimed this came after the Blues decided to switch their attention to the signing of Victor Osimhen.

The Blues have been linked to the striker for well over a year now, with him previously being described as Todd Boehly’s number one target for the club.

Talk of that nature seems to have returned in recent weeks too, with there being a real belief that Napoli have budged on their original asking price for the player.

However, it seems they are not the only top Premier League side interested in making a late deal for the striker.

Journalist Rahman Osman has claimed that Arsenal have recently asked about whether the Nigerian international would be available to sign this summer.

He said: “Arsenal asked about Victor Osimhen’s situation again this morning. Sources say player still quite keen on PSG move having agreed personal terms. Chelsea obviously still alive too and interested.”

Napoli want Romelu Lukaku
Chelsea will likely be wanting to use the Serie A side’s well known interest in signing Romelu Lukaku as leverage to beat any other sides to a late deal.

It is no secret that former Blues boss Antonio Conte is obsessed with signing Lukaku, and with Osimhen not in his plans it is difficult to see a future for him in Naples.

There is now a real opportunity for Chelsea to put to bed one of the longer-running transfer sagas they have been involved in and bring in their proven top goalscorer.
