After splashing big over the last couple of summer windows, the Gunners transfer budget has seemingly been restricted due to FFP rules. So, it appears they are in a situation where they need to sell their stars to add new reinforcements.
After letting Emile Smith Rowe leave the club, the North London club have decided to bolster the engine room and have reached an agreement with Real Sociedad to sign Mikel Merino.
On the other hand, although it has widely been reported that Arsenal want a new prolific goal-scorer, perhaps, they were struggling to sign anyone having already got Eddie Nketiah, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
However, considering Nketiah, who currently earns £120,000-a-week in wages, is close to joining Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta’s side may now be able to sign a new striker before the end of this transfer window.
Osimhen to Arsenal
If Arsenal eventually sell Nketiah then that will give a big financial boost for them as he is an academy graduate and his departure means a pure profit for the club. Additionally, given they have already done the same with Smith Rowe, this might allow them to spend big to sign a new striker.
Arsenal have been linked with a plethora of strikers over the last few weeks with Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres being among them but Victor Osimhen is reportedly on their radar as well.
However, it looked like they weren’t going to purchase anyone as they cooled their interest in all of them in recent times. However, according to the report by Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal are thinking about signing Osimhen to bolster the attack so they have reignited their interest.
It has been reported that Osimhen has a £112m release clause in his current contract so Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
