Arsenal should move for 'unplayable' £50m Chelsea player who's been told he can leave if Joao Felix signs

Arsenal’s transfer window hasn’t quite gone as swimmingly as some Gunners would have wanted.

Just the one signing has come through the door so far, with Riccardo Calafiori arriving to strengthen the defensive ranks.

Arsenal are trying to do a deal for midfielder Mikel Merino as well but as yet, nothing has been agreed on that one.

Arsenal can seize on Chelsea madness to sign £50m star
Of course, the market moves quickly in England and a lot of eyes have been on Chelsea this summer.

The Blues are making countless signings once more and that’s leaving doors open in their squad for certain players to leave.

And coincidentally, it could now let Arsenal in the back door to sign a player who has long been tipped for a move to The Emirates.

As we know, the Gunners are a young squad at heart and over the last two seasons, have lacked that bit of experience and knowhow to get over the line.

And while on the surface, some Arsenal fans might wince at this idea, the addition of Raheem Sterling might be a masterstroke by Mikel Arteta.
Raheem Sterling could make big sense for Arsenal
Sterling, who is still only 29, has that aforementioned knowhow in abundance. His trophy cabinet speaks for itself, with four Premier League’s, six domestic English cups, and a couple of charity shields to boot.

Of course, the opening to land Sterling comes as Chelsea look to sign Joao Felix, a move which is said will be the end of Sterling’s time at Chelsea.

Coincidentally, it comes just days after pundit and self-confessed Arsenal fan, Darren Bent, suggested the Gunners go out and sign Sterling.

Furthermore, another prominent Gunners pundit, Paul Merson, has also lauded Sterling in the past, suggesting he is unplayable on his day.

“When Sterling’s hot, he’s unplayable and he turns up in big tournaments. I don’t know if Southgate has made his mind up on him but I don’t see him at the Euros. It’s hard to make a case for him after the weekend,” Merson said last season.

Chelsea paid £50m for Sterling and will want some money back.

But with Arsenal needing another winger, needing experience to win titles, and not having the luxury to bed young players in if they do want to win, Raheem Sterling could be the ideal fit right now.
