Arsenal to submit £17m bid to sign Euro 24 star as Arteta looks to bolster key area - report

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to submit a formal proposal to sign Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz this summer, as per a recent report.

Following a slow start in this transfer window, the Gunners have stepped up their efforts to bolster the squad and have already purchased Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna to reinforce the backline.

Additionally, the North London club are also working on a deal to sign Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino to beef up the engine room. However, it has widely been reported that Arsenal are also keen on purchasing a new attacker before the end of this window.

A plethora of strikers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres being among them. However, they haven’t opted to formalise their interest in signing any of them.

Now, while citing a recent report from Turkiye as the main source, Turkish Football states that Arsenal are keen on purchase Yilmaz and are prepared to submit a £17m proposal to Galatasaray to get the deal done.

Yilmaz to Arsenal
The report further claims that West Ham United were also interested in him but they have now decided not to push forward with this deal. So, Mikel Arteta’s side are set to get a clear pathway to lure the 24-year-old to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

It has previously been reported that the Cimbom value their star man at around £26m so it remains to be seen whether the Turkish giants accept the North London club’s proposal if they submit it.

Yilmaz enjoyed a promising campaign in the Turkish top-flight last term, helping Galatasaray win the league title. In addition, he played a key role for Turkiye in the European Championship and guided his country to reach the quarter-final.

He is a versatile forward as he is comfortable playing on either flank and additionally, he can play in the centre-forward position. So, his versatility would be a great asset for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, there are question marks whether he would be an upgrade to the Gunners’ current attacking options and therefore, whether he would be the right option to help Arsenal achieve their lofty ambitions should they sign him
