City closing in on Liverpool winger Gordon

City have admired Gordon throughout the summer window but have moved late to strike an agreement with Liverpool, with new boss Arne Slot keen for him to head out on loan to continue his development.

Gordon, who joined Liverpool from Derby County for a fee potentially rising to £3.4million in February 2021, made an impressive breakthrough at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp in 2021-22.

Injury halted his progress last season, and now the young winger is in pursuit of regular minutes at Carrow Road as he prepares to link up with Johannes Hoff Thorup's squad in the Championship.

City have looked at other loan options, including Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo and Jaiden Anthony, but reached dead ends, causing them to turn to Gordon.

They now face a race against time to complete the deal before the 11pm deadline, with Gordon hoping to complete the formalities on his first loan spell away from Liverpool since joining.

Speaking earlier in the summer, he spoke about his desire to get minutes to continue his development having made seven first team appearances for Liverpool since his arrival at the club.

"Just get minutes, to be honest, wherever it is," Gordon said back in July to Liverpool's channels. "Just hopefully get minutes.

"I feel like I need to get a good run of games this season so I can get back up to speed with everything and get back to where I was beforehand."

City have agreed a fee with Hull for Kamara to move to the KCOM Stadium for a fee that could rise above £5m after add-ons. The Canaries have already completed the loan addition of Anis Slimane from Sheffield United.
