Edu cancelled his flight at last minute as he prepares for 'late business' at Arsenal - journalist

Among all the Premier League clubs, it seems as if Arsenal could be busy as any on deadline day, who are still eyeing two or three deals, and that’s just players arriving.

Edu and Mikel Arteta are also making considerable progress in offloading a few players who were on the periphery of things at Arsenal last season.

Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah are leaving – two players who are incredibly popular in north London.

But there’s no doubt that both should move on, they’re simply not going to play sufficient minutes under Arteta this season.

That being said, Arsenal are being linked with Raheem Sterling – a move that would shock the entire league.

And the club are also attempting to raid Bournemouth right now, with Neto currently undergoing his Arsenal medical.

Edu has cancelled his Monaco travel plans to oversee Arsenal deadline day push
With all of the above in mind, journalist Jordan Davies has just shared on X that Edu had actually planned to travel to Monaco on Thursday evening for the Champions League draw.

However, given things were ramping up at Arsenal ahead of deadline day, Edu cancelled those travel plans in order to execute some ‘late business’.

The journalist shared that signing a goalkeeper was on the agenda, a logical move given Ramsdale is Southampton bound.

Davies shared: “Edu had planned on being in Monaco for the Champions League draw last night but made a late call to stay in London ahead of Deadline Day as Arsenal look to get some late business over the line – a goalkeeper being one of them.”

Arsenal need to think longer-term than signing Neto from Bournemouth
As mentioned, Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Neto from Bournemouth as their new number two.

Edu has a strong relationship with Neto, a 35-year-old goalkeeper who would add experience to Arsenal’s squad.

However, are Arsenal thinking too short-term?

Yes, a loan would protect the Gunners beyond the season, they could then seek the perfect number two.

But Arsenal have an opportunity to sign Joan Garcia right now, he has an active release clause.

Espanyol’s manager predicted that Arsenal would fail in their pursuit, and it seems as if the Garcia’s release clause, rightly or wrongly, will lead Edu to look for a short-term fix.
