Fabio Carvalho spent two seasons at Anfield before moving to Brentford this past week.

What Fabio Carvalho said
After joining his new club Brentford, Fabio Carvalho spoke in an interview about how he felt about joining the team. Liverpool rejected a bid from Southampton, before Brentford came swooped in with a permanent deal.

“It feels amazing, I’m so excited to be here. I’ve had a really warm welcome and I can’t thank everyone who has been involved in making this happen enough,” Carvalho said in his first interview.

“I spoke to the manager [Thomas Frank] and, from the first conversation that we had, I just knew I was going to come in and be excited about playing for the club, coming in every day and working with him.

“I just want to play football now and to do that in the best league in the world.

“As a player, you want to go somewhere where you’re wanted and somewhere where you’re loved – that’s why I’m here.”

Liverpool first team competition is intense
Fabio Carvalho was a part of Liverpool’s squad for their pre season tour under new Head coach Arne Slot. The midfielder impressed and even scored against Manchester United and Arsenal.

The 21-year old was left out of the matchday squad to face Sevilla and Las Palmas after an agreement had been reached.

Carvalho was enthusiastic about staying and playing for Liverpool this season, but added the fact that he wanted regular playing time.

“Every footballer wants to be playing week in and week out and I feel I got the best of myself when I was there [at Hull] and playing,” he said.

“That’s the target, to stay here. I’m just having fun and enjoying the time that I’m here, and learning a lot of new things. That’s the most important thing.”

In the £27.5million for a very talented youngster in Fabio Carvalho, is good money for Liverpool. The player also gets a new environment to compete for a first team place at Brentford.
