Both Solanke and Toney have been subjected to interest from the two North London clubs among other suitors this summer and are tipped to move before the transfer window slams shut.
On the matter, Deeney had this to say during a recent talkSPORT appearance:
“I think Solanke works better at somewhere like Arsenal where he has to be on the end of something.
“If you’re going to spend £65million which is the reported fee, I would expect them [Tottenham] to go for Toney, if they can get him.
“Test the water with Brentford and leave the offer on the table for a week.
“Dominic is good. He’s someone who has learned the hard way in terms of being at Liverpool then coming away.
“But whenever I watch Dominic and I think he’s a good player, I still don’t see the killer in him. I know he’s scored a lot of goals but I don’t go, ‘it’s everything for him to score a goal’.”
Solanke was a highly-rated young forward not too long ago when he was roped in by Liverpool from Chelsea. After failing to impress as a Red, he moved to Bournemouth five years ago. His 19-goal season last term was the first time in the English topflight that he managed to come near the 20-goal mark.
Toney, on the other hand, never really got a chance at the top level in his young days and had to make his way up through the English footballing pyramid. He has had only two full Premier League seasons with Brentford, having spent majority of the last season on the sidelines with a betting ban.
Both Spurs and Arsenal need out-and-out goal-scorers, and honestly, both sides could benefit from either of these England internationals.
It just comes down to how much they are willing to spend and how much risk they are willing to take
