Gary Neville predicts the score when Arsenal face Wolves in their opening Premier League game

After dominating much of their pre-season, Arsenal supporters will be confident of starting their season with a win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
However, as Wolves proved under Gary O’Neil last season, they are certainly going to be no pushovers, even without Pedro Neto in their side.

Arsenal were interested in Neto before he signed for Chelsea, but the winger’s injury history was an ongoing concern for the Gunners.

That being said, perhaps Wolves and Arsenal could still do business this summer, potentially even finalising two deals before the end of August.

Arsenal want Daniel Bentley from Wolves, having now failed with more than one bid for the back-up goalkeeper according to reports.

Similarly, Wolves reportedly want Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal, who would surely arrive at Molineux to replace Jose Sa.

But whilst both clubs finalise their plans for their goalkeeping department, there is the small matter of the Premier League season beginning, with Manchester United and Fulham kicking things off on Friday.

Gary Neville thinks Arsenal will beat Wolves fairly comfortably on Saturday
Arsenal will then host Wolves at the Emirates at 3pm on Saturday, a difficult opening test for the visitors.

O’Neil’s team face Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Liverpool in their first six games, with a trip to Nottingham Forest not looking easy in the middle either.

Therefore, Wolves can’t afford to write any game off, nor will the ambition of their manager allow them to.

That being said, when speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Neville shared his prediction that Arsenal would win “2-0”.

Neville didn’t expand on his words, which perhaps says it all regarding how comfortable he thinks the Gunners may find things in north London.

In terms of who Arteta may have available on Saturday, Riccardo Calafiori impressed during his Arsenal debut, minutes that excited William Saliba.

But despite their efforts, Arsenal still haven’t signed Mikel Merino – a deal that may now creep towards Deadline Day if the Gunners aren’t careful.

Fortunately, Ian Wright dropped an exciting Arsenal transfer hint recently, giving fans confidence that progress will still be made in the next two weeks.
