'Go for him': Arsenal told to sign 'unbelievable' £30m striker if they can't get Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen has once again emerged as a target for Arsenal.
The Gunners are being urged to sign a new striker before the window shuts next Friday. They already have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, but many people feel that will not be enough to displace Manchester City.

Arsenal tried to sign Benjamin Sesko but he rejected them. They have been linked with plenty of names since, and Osimhen is one of them.

However, Shaka Hislop has offered a suggestion to Arsenal on ESPN FC about which player they should sign if they can’t land the Napoli star.

ESPN pundit tells Arsenal to sign Ivan Toney if Victor Osimhen snubs them
Arsenal started their season in fantastic style with a win against Wolves.

Havertz led the line that afternoon, and he silenced all his critics with a brilliant performance. He scored the opener and then assisted Bukayo Saka’s goal.

Arteta clearly thinks Havertz is good enough to be Arsenal’s striker, while Jesus is more than capable of producing the goods as well.

However, Hislop believes Arsenal simply have to sign a new number nine this summer if they want to win the Premier League title. He thinks Osimhen is the best option.

However, if the Gunners can’t sign the Nigerian, he has urged them to make a move for Ivan Toney, a player branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Darren Bent (talkSPORT, 5/8/2024, 6:44 pm).

He said: “Listen, money aside, if Arsenal could, for me, I think the best striker out there who’s available is Victor Osimhen. I know, by all reports, he’s got his sights set elsewhere. So, okay, if he’s not available, then absolutely yes – Ivan Toney!

“I think you go for him. I think that Arsenal desperately need that out-and-out striker now. Again, Ivan Toney, he’s already in London, I think he ticks a whole lot of boxes for both club and player.

“Can you compete with the money that Saudi Arabia may be offering? No! But, I think you’ve got to stake your claim. Toney wants to keep himself in the reckoning in and around the England squad. I think there’s an opportunity for him to make that move down the road.

“If I’m Arsenal, I am trying to do everything I can to convince him to come to North London as opposed to head out to the Middle East.”

How much will Osimhen and Toney cost Arsenal?
Arsenal have already spent good money on David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori, while Mikel Merino will cost a decent amount as well if they can sign him.

However, the Gunners have already raised funds through Emile Smith Rowe, while Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of leaving Arsenal for Nottingham Forest.

Arsenal may have the money required to make a big move, but Osimhen may still be a bit too expensive. Corriere dello Sport claim Napoli want at least €100 million (£85m) for his signature.

It remains to be seen if Arteta and Edu will make a move for either player before the summer transfer window shuts next Friday.
