‘Going to be closed’: Sky Sports journalist says Liverpool are set to make a £30m signing now

With just a few days left in the transfer window, Liverpool are still yet to make their first summer signing.

Despite having a new manager and a new recruitment team in place, the Reds haven’t done any incoming business so far this summer.

However, that could soon be about to change.

Indeed, according to James Savundra, speaking on Sky Sports News, Liverpool are closing in on their first signing of the summer.

Giorgi Mamardashvili has been linked to Liverpool in recent weeks, and according to the Sky Sports reporter, this deal looks like it is going to be concluded for a fee of £30m.

Giorgi Mamardashvili to Liverpool looking likely
Savundra shared an update on this transfer.

“Liverpool fans have been waiting so long for their first signing of the window, and this looks like it is going to be closed. This might not be a player that features for Liverpool tis season, but he could be the future number one,” Savundra said.

“Giorgi Mamardashvili signing from Valencia, it is though Liverpool offered a package up to around £30m to sign him from Valencia, the deal will mean that he will stay at Valencia this season on loan.”

Liverpool have more work to do
Mamardashvili looks likely to be the first signing of the Arne Slot era, but he mustn’t be the only player the Reds bring in this summer.

Liverpool have some holes in their squad, and they have money to spend, so they need to be active in the coming days.

Anthony Gordon to Liverpool is still possible, so that’s a situation to watch, while the Reds could also do with a new holding midfield player and a new centre-back.

Mamardashvili may be Liverpool’s first signing of this transfer window, but he surely won’t be the last.

Liverpool could be in for an exciting end to the transfer window with movement expected on the incoming front.
