'I expect': Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal could sell their £50m player next and have already found his replacement

Arsenal are far from done with their business in this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners turned David Raya’s loan into a permanent deal after his hugely successful spell at the Emirates in the 2023/24 season.

Mikel Arteta has also brought in Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, and he showed at the Euros just how incredible a player he is.

Arsenal are still on the market for new signings, but there are a few players who could leave the club as well.

Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on one of them in his video on YouTube.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Aaron Ramsdale’s Arsenal future
Aaron Ramsdale had a very difficult 2023/24 season.

The Englishman started the campaign as Arteta’s number one, but after just three games in the Premier League, he was dropped in favour of Raya.

Ramsdale played a few more games across different competitions, but he looked nothing like his usual self. His confidence was shot.

Everybody expected Ramsdale to leave Arsenal this summer, but until now, there has been no concrete interest in the England goalkeeper.

That, however, is likely to change as Romano has revealed that he expects moves to be made for Ramsdale as many clubs have him on their wish list.

Furthermore, the journalist has confirmed that Arsenal are eyeing Joan Garcia as a replacement for Ramsdale should he leave before the window shuts.

Romano said: “I expect some movement also in the next days for Aaron Ramsdale. Aaron Ramsdale is on the list of some clubs, there are some possibilities for him.

“Arsenal are insisting on a permanent transfer but let’s see if they will find a way for this one or not. But, for sure, on Ramsdale, there could be movement.

“Arsenal are already preparing to have a new backup goalkeeper with Garcia from Espanyol, who can be a candidate for the role of backup goalkeeper behind obviously David Raya.

“So, this is the idea of Arsenal.”
Why Arsenal have struggled to sell Ramsdale
Ramsdale is still one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

The Englishman made the Team of the Season in the 2022/23 campaign and was one of the biggest reasons why they were in a title race that term.

That makes you wonder why teams are not lining up to sign the 26-year-old, but there’s a simple answer to that question – Edu Gaspar’s asking price.

The Sun has claimed that Arsenal are demanding at least £50 million to sell Ramsdale this summer. That would make him the most expensive sale in the club’s history.

However, we just can’t see any club even getting close to that figure in the coming days.
