The former Reds midfielder went on to enjoy a successful career at Anfield following that 2015 transfer, winning the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup under Jurgen Klopp across six seasons.
Scoring 22 goals and providing the same amount of assists in 178 appearances for the Reds, Lallana certainly played his part in helping the German return Liverpool to the top of the footballing tree.
Since leaving upon the expiry of his contract in 2020, Lallana spent four seasons at Brighton before returning to his boyhood club this summer, where he grabbed 60 goals and 45 assists in 266 appearances between 2006-2014.
Yet despite playing a major role in helping the Saints rise from League One to the Premier League in the space of two years, Lallana is focused on rebuilding relationships with the club's fans who were left upset with his departure to Anfield a decade ago.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, he said: “It was 10 years ago when I left. That last season (13-14) was special with Mauricio (Pochettino) – I’ve never lost contact with him, he was an enormous figure that helped shape my career and a big reason why I got my move to Liverpool.
“Not all the fans were happy that I left, and it wasn’t an easy decision – when you leave to move on, not everyone is going to be happy.

“But I don’t have any regrets. The trophies I won were a reward for hard work throughout my career, not just during my years at Liverpool, but to get promoted out of League One and the Championship with Southampton."
Lallana added: “I know it was bittersweet when I left here last time, but I think I can repair some of those wounds. I’ll always give my utmost here. I’ve always had a special place for this football club. My son is in the academy and we’ve lived local to the area for years.”
Perhaps what made Lallana's move to Liverpool harder to swallow for Southampton fans was how it followed fellow fan-favorite Rickie Lambert's move to Merseyside just a month before. Losing two club legends to the Reds in the same summer was tough to take for the Saints faithful.

In fact, Lallana was just the second of six players to make the switch from St Mary’s to Anfield over the course of the next four years, with Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk also eventually relocating up north.

Nonetheless, Lallana is now focused on doing his bit for Southampton by helping to keep the club in the Premier League following last season's promotion from the Championship, even if he did miss Southampton's opening games of the new campaign through injury.
“I’ve loved my first few weeks back at the club," he told FourFourTwo. "When you get to my age, you take it year by year – I don’t know at this point how long I’ll play on for, we’ll see what happens towards the end of the season.
