'I was told': Gary Neville says he's just heard who 'unbelievable' Arsenal target is likely to sign for

Gary Lineker urges Arsenal to sign Premier League star after opening weekendArsenal got their 2024/25 campaign up and running in comfortable fashion on Saturday with their 2-0 victory over Wolves.

Mikel Arteta must be delighted with what he saw from his Arsenal side at the Emirates on Saturday given they were tested at times.

The Gunners did get over the mark fairly comfortably but the visitors did have their moments during the game.

Three points came on the back of what has been a quiet summer for Arsenal in the transfer window with just one player signed.

But there is one player who Gary Neville has now said is looking incredibly unlikely to be headed to north London before the end of the month.
Gary Neville says Arsenal won’t be signing summer target
One area which the Gunners could potentially do with strengthening is up front with Arsenal eyeing a potential move for Victor Osimhen.

But there are other options available for Edu Gaspar and Arteta as they possibly look to find an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville has now said he’s heard one of Arsenal’s striker targets could be headed elsewhere over the coming weeks.

Arsenal have looked at Ivan Toney as an option to bolster their front line this summer, but Neville seems to think the striker could be off to a much different landing spot.

“I would love to see him stay in the Premier League, but I have just been in the, it’s like a wardrobe, that little room that we were in, and I was told that maybe he is going to Saudi Arabia, which would be a shame,” said Neville.

“Obviously, in the Premier League, we have enjoyed watching him in the last few years, but he probably feels that he needs to exploit this contract more than any other before.

“He has obviously not had the career that a lot of players have had of his age, playing for England, earning big money. He feels like he has got to go and earn the money that he possibly can, so he may do that. I would love to see him stay in the Premier League. He could be a great asset for another club.”

Despite their summer arrival – January signing – Igor Thiago being out through injury, Frank left the ‘unbelievable‘ Toney at home.

“Things are happening for Ivan Toney so we decided not to involve him in the squad. There’s interest, nothing closed yet but things are happening,” said Frank.

However, it seems as if a move to Arsenal may not be in the works over the coming days with the striker now looking set to be playing his football in the Saudi Pro League.
