'I'm hearing': Arsenal set to sign 'excellent' player after Merino with agreement already in place - Romano

It has certainly been a testing summer for Arsenal fans who have only seen one new player come through the doors at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta has been a patient man as he has allowed Edu Gaspar to get on with negotiations behind the scenes in the market.

But Arsenal have still only see Riccardo Calafiori brought into the club as things stand with just one week remaining in the window.

With such little time remaining, Arsenal are now going to have to get on with things if they do hope of bringing in any further additions

Arsenal now eyeing signing number three
The truth is, Arsenal didn’t really need to come into the market with any need to make wholesale changes considering how close they pushed Manchester City last season.

It was more so a case of fine tuning their squad and making sure Arteta had some extra additions to finally turn the table at the top of the Premier League.

And it seems as if Arsenal are already looking at who they could make their potential third signing of the summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are confident that a deal for Joan Garcia would not be an issue with Espanyol negotiations not expected to be an issue.

“Arsenal already have an agreement with Joan Garcia to replace Ramsdale if he leaves,” he said in his Daily Briefing.

“The Espanyol goalkeeper, 23, won the Olympics final with Spain this summer, and he has an agreement on a contract with Arsenal.

“Now it’s down to a club-to-club agreement, but that’s not going to be a problem from what I’m hearing, so when Ramsdale leaves they will be ready with an official bid for Garcia, this is the idea.”

Aaron Ramsdale is expected to leave Arsenal this summer
Although there may well only be one week remaining in the transfer window, Aaron Ramsdale is still looking for a new club.

Arsenal are keen to offload Ramsdale this summer with two Premier League clubs showing a real interest in the goalkeeper.

Having spent the summer on international duty with England, Ramsdale missed the Arsenal pre-season and is now looking for a new club over the next week.

With the likes of Bournemouth and Wolves interested, Ramsdale’s exit could well see Arsenal forced into the market to replace him.

But it does seem as if they are prepared for that scenario with the ‘excellent‘ Garcia line up.
