'Issues': Troy Deeney has noticed something problematic about Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal

Arsenal opened up their 2024/25 Premier League account with a 2-0 victory against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Kai Havertz was particularly impressive for The Gunners as he continued his superb form since the turn of the year.

The German forward netted a superb header from a Bukayo Saka cross and perhaps the urgency to sign a striker has now dwindled somewhat.

Saka added the second with a superb left-footed strike to round off a comfortable afternoon at the Emirates.

Though, former Watford striker Troy Deeney noticed something problematic about Gabriel Martinelli.

Troy Deeney says a few issues cropped up with Gabriel Martinelli vs Wolves
Speaking on Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, Troy Deeney said Gabriel Martinelli was too eager during the clash against Wolves.

“Saw a few little issues that could potentially come up,” the 36-year-old said.

“Martinelli had a few chances. He could have squared it and someone scores, but he’s thinking like I have got to score now because Trossard’s going to play.”

There’s certainly added pressure for Martinelli to deliver in front of goal with Leandro Trossard breathing down his neck.

Though, competition is usually a positive as it motivates players to perform to their maximum in order to retain their place in the starting line-up.

So, perhaps it’s a situation to keep an eye on…

Mikel Arteta has a difficult decision to make
Arteta now has a tough call to make for the clash against Aston Villa this weekend as he decides between Martinelli or Trossard.

Does he place his faith in the Brazillian who perhaps needs a run of games to find his feet or does he bring in Trossard, who’s arguably the more polished finisher?

Only time will tell…
