'It looks like...': Pep Guardiola shares what he really thought about Arsenal after watching them vs Leverkusen

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that he watched Arsenal thrash Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 in the Emirates Cup.

The Spaniard is gearing up for another battle in the Premier League title race against his former assistant and good pal, Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal put up a great fight in each of the last two seasons. They finished five points below City in the 2022/23 campaign and fell just two short last term.

Guardiola was asked about his title rivals, and the former Barcelona man made an interesting admission ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

Pep Guardiola admits he is ‘concerned’ about Arsenal
Arsenal have become one of the best teams in the world.

Arteta has built a tremendous squad at the Emirates, and his side showed in each of the last two seasons that they are ready to challenge for the title.

After finishing second in back-to-back seasons, Arsenal will do everything they possibly can to pip Manchester City to the crown in the upcoming campaign.

They have had a decent pre-season so far. They faced Xabi Alonso’s title-winning Bayer Leverkusen side on Wednesday, and they were fantastic.

Arsenal were on another level in the first half and ended up winning 4-1.

Guardiola has now admitted that he watched that game, and he has claimed that he’s concerned because Arsenal are getting better and better.

He said about Arsenal, as per Optus Sport: “Of course. I have been concerned for many years (with) how good they are because every year they are getting better.

“I see Arsenal playing at the same level as last season; I saw their game against Leverkusen. They are on fire. Every year it looks like they are more and more difficult.”

Arsenal need one more signing to become title favourites
Arsenal are more than ready to win the Premier League title.

They had the best defence in the top-flight in the 2023/24 season and they’ve now become even stronger thanks to the addition of Riccardo Calafiori.

Mikel Merino is close to joining Arsenal, and he will make them a much better side too, so Guardiola is right to be concerned.

However, for Arsenal to go from contenders to favourites, they need to make one more signing – a prolific goalscorer who will guarantee 25 goals a season.

City have that Erling Haaland. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will sign someone to fill that void at the top end of their pitch.
