The Gunners have spent close to £100million this summer by bringing in Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori, while they also made David Raya’s loan move from Brentford permanent for £27m.
Arsenal could make more signings, with Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto undergoing a medical ahead of a loan move and the Gunners also want to bring in a new forward if they can.
“This is football,” said Arteta, when asked on Friday afternoon if he was excited for the final hours of the transfer window.
“Overall, we have tried to do all the things that we wanted. There was a lot to do. There’s still a few hours to go. We are prepared.
“Let’s see [if Arsenal sign someone]. It’s always possible. In the last hours of the transfer window, never rule anything out.
“I wouldn’t use the word comfortable in the last hours of the window in this league. We’ve done a lot of the things we wanted to do and there’s still a few hours so let’s see.
“I’m always happy with the squad. I think we have tremendous players, a magnificent group of human beings.
“We always want to be better, and we cannot deny that. The most important thing is to try to improve our own players and then in terms of the numbers and quality, can we improve the squad? For sure, there are still margins.

“We know about the depth of the squad and it’s something that we cannot change dramatically in one or two seasons.
“It’s something we are constantly trying to build. Build the numbers and build the robustness of the squad as well which is something critical.
“On top of that, bring more quality. We are trying to bring some quality from our academy as well which looks like it’s happening and that’s going to be very helpful. Trust the players that we have and do the maximum we can with the squad.”
Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Raheem Sterling, who Chelsea are trying to shift in the final hours of the window.
