Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both still active on the transfer market even though the new Premier League season has begun.
The two North London rivals are aiming for big things this campaign.
Arsenal are expected to be in the title race once again, while Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to bring an end to Tottenham’s trophy drought.
Both clubs could do with new signings before the window shuts, and John Obi Mikel has now suggested a Tottenham target to Arsenal.
John Obi Mikel says Arsenal ‘need’ someone like Tottenham target Ivan Toney
Ivan Toney has been on the radar of multiple clubs over the last year.
The Englishman has entered the final year of his contract, and amid uncertainty about his future, Toney was left out of Brentford’s squad for their opening Premier League game of the season.
There’s still every chance the striker will leave the Bees this summer.
Spurs have signed Dominic Solanke, but reports have claimed that Tottenham could bring Toney in too.
No move has materialised yet, but Mikel has now suggested the England striker to Arsenal and has claimed that the Gunners ‘need’ a striker like him.
When asked which club could sign Toney, he said on beIN Sports: “I think a club like Arsenal. He has been linked with Arsenal for quite some time now.
“I think a club like Arsenal they will need someone like that, a goalscorer. Havertz is doing really well but Arsenal will need somebody like that, a proven goalscorer.”
Mikel then admitted that a move to Saudi Arabia would be tempting for Toney, but remained adamant that he would be a great fit for Arsenal.
He said: “I look at him and I think he has still got a lot to give in the Premier League. I think he will probably go to a club in the Premier League. I really think Arsenal will suit Ivan Toney, or Villa.”

Arsenal and Tottenham could sign Toney for a bargain price
The reason Brentford have managed to keep hold of Toney for so long is because they have previously demanded a lot of money to sell him.
Clubs haven’t made a move for him as a result, but with the striker entering the final year of his contract, the Bees’ stance has reportedly softened.
Reports have claimed that Toney could be available for just £30 million in the coming weeks.
That is a small fee for someone who has proved he can be prolific in the Premier League, and he could do a job for both Arsenal and Tottenham.
However, it remains to be seen if either club will try and sign him before the window shuts.
